Hamburger Don’t Need Helper

Who needs Hamburger Helper when simple poor planning and a spice rack will do. This was one of those meals where I needed to make enough food to feed myself for the rest of the day, wasn’t interested in cooking, and had some vegetables in the fridge about to go bad. Not every meal needs a recipe or pre-planning.

Some the best things I’ve ever made were a direct result of throwing caution to the wind

2tsp of tomato paste

 1lb of ground beef

1 avocado (mine was overripe)

 2 tbsp of chili powder

1 tsp of thyme

Start by pre-heating a large pan on a medium high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the ground beef. Give it about a one minute head start before adding the avocado. Once the meat is brown add the spices, give one last stir. Let sit for 3-5 minutes before serving. This might seem like a silly detail, but the meat will loose some of its juice during the cooking and giving it the rest will let it reabsorb some of what was lost.
